Man charged with arson in Caledon house explosion

A charge of arson has been laid following an apparent explosion at a Caledon home, Wednesday afternoon.

OPP say one man suffered serious burns as a result of the fire, which had fully consumed the Castlederg Side Road house by the time fires crews arrived on scene just before 1 p.m.

Police say the victim remains in hospital, in a trauma centre with major injuries.

A 23-year-old Caledon man is expected to appear in court today to face a charge of ‘arson – damage to property.’

An investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office and OPP continues.
