Kitchener’s big box Rona store is being converted to a Lowe’s.
The existing store on Ottawa Street South will undergo extensive renovations and re-merchandising beginning the third week of August, with construction expected to wrap up by the end of this year.
The transformation is expected to last 16 weeks, but Interim Executive Vice President of Lowe’s Canada, Guy Beaumier, says the store will remain open during construction.
“We are committed to minimizing any impact on customers,” Beaumier said in a release.
The new Kitchener Lowe’s will feature over 93,000 square feet of retail space, an adjacent Garden Centre, and an outdoor lumber yard, featuring a drive-thru lumber yard as well.
The store will employ more than 135 permanent jobs, and is looking to hire an additional 35 permanent and seasonal staff.
