A Guelph businessman has been awarded Ontario’s highest honour for helping Syrian refugee families.
Jim Estill, who’s also the CEO of Danby Appliances, has been named to the Order of Ontario for personally sponsoring 50 families.
Estill tells The Mike Farwell Show on 570 NEWS that he sprang into action because he thought it was his duty to as a Canadian. “As an entrepreneur, I tend to think bigger than most people. So I didn’t think 50 was a lot or a big deal. I just figured we needed to do it. That I had an obligation for it.”
Estill paid the sponsorship costs personally, which is now believed to have surpassed a million dollars.
