Update: Kitchener woman died of multiple stab wounds, search continues for Ager Hasan

A 22 year-old woman was found dead in her Country Hills apartment building in Kitchener early Friday morning.

Police are identifying the woman as Melinda Vasilije from Kitchener. Police late Sunday confirmed a post mortem shows the victim died of multiple stab wounds.

Inspector Michael Haffner says Regional Police responded to the unit just before 3 a.m. Friday.

“Upon arrival, police located a 22-year-old deceased woman. That investigation and death is considered suspicious. We do believe that this was a targeted incident.”

Police say they are looking for 24-year-old Ager Mohsin Hasan, from Hamilton. Police say he was known to have been in contact with Vasilije that evening and is believed to be operating a 2016 Honda HR-V, black in colour, bearing Ontario Licence plate BPKT509.

It is believed Hasan crossed into the U.S. via the Peace Bridge and investigators are liaising with United States authorities to find him. Further information shows plates on that vehicle were switched in the U.S.  Insp. Mike Haffner says Hasan faces a charge of 2nd-Degree Murder.

Haffner adds that there will be an increased police presence in the area of Country Hill Drive in Kitchener as their investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information to contact Waterloo Regional Police at 519-653-7700 ext. 8666 or Crime stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Police say Hasan is considered dangerous, they are asking the public not to approach him.
