Guelph man allegedly assaults family dogs with bear spray

A Guelph man faces a number of charges after he allegedly assaulted two of his family dogs, and sprayed one of them with bear spray.

Guelph Police arrived to a Clough Crescent home on Thursday morning after concerned family members reached out to them.

Once inside, they noticed the strong smell of bear spray, and found a small puppy and another dog locked in cages.

Police say both dogs were shivering and smelled like bear spray, and one of them had a cut above its eye.

The animals were handed over to the Humane Society to have their injuries treated.

Police say 22-year-old Naymatullah Sayfi faces charges including animal cruelty and administering a noxious substance.
