$300,000 worth of damage after barn fire in Wellesley

Firefighters are expected to be in Wellesley Township for most of the day after a cattle barn went up in flames this morning.

Acting Township Fire Chief Steve Martin says the fire is not considered suspicious.

“We deem it as accidental, and we believe between $300,000 and $400,000 worth of damage was sustained.”

Martin says the barn is completely destroyed, and six cows and a horse died due to the flames.

Martin adds that firefighters will remain on scene for most of the day, due to the dry weather, to ensure there are no hot spots.
