Olympic profile: Mandy Bujold (Kitchener)

Many have her as a favourite to medal at the Rio Olympics.

This will also be the first Olympics for Kitchener boxer Mandy Bujold.

Although it was upsetting to be left off the team in 2012, that experience has not left Bujold with a sour taste in her mouth.

“I’m more experienced than I was four years ago, I’m a better boxer…I know that I had to work that extra four years, that’s just going to make me work harder when I get into the ring…I think that’s just going to work to my advantage when I do get there.”

For right now, Bujold tells 570 News she’s just sticking to the game plan and focusing on her training.

She adds the thing she’s most excited about is the nine family members and friends heading down to Rio to watch her compete.

Bujold won back to back gold at the Pan Am Games.

The boxing competitions in Rio start on August 6th, Bujold is expected to fight in her first match on August 12th.
