Thousands of local athletes will head to Chicopee Ski & Summer Resort for the second annual Rugged Maniac Obstacle 5k.

Stuart Wall is Race Director for Rugged Maniac and tells us about the event.

“Rugged Maniac is an obstacle 5K race that includes 25 obstacles. It’s a great time that features multiple obstacles and a big festival after-party area where you can grab a beer and celebrate your accomplishments with friends and family. It’s really just a fun event that has lots of events for athletes of all shapes and sizes.”

Wall adds that this is the second year Rugged Maniacs will be gathering at Chicopee.

“We’re excited to be back at Chicopee again and are bringing some new obstacles including a new and improved Gauntlet. We are expecting just over 4,000 people to come out– which is a little bit more than last year. We have definitetly seen some good event growth.”

Wall adds that the event kicks off at 9 am and will feature a day-long festival that includes music, food, mechanical bulls and adult bounce houses.

“Most of our athletes do pre-register– but you can find all your information on our website. (ruggedmaniacs.com). We enocurage everyone to come out and check us out, you can just hang out in the festival area for free and see what our events are about. We do also have on-site registration available, so you can sign up for some obstacles.”
