They announced details of their upcoming trip to Silicon Valley in April to promote an innovation corridor between our two regions.
On April 5th, they will meet with California-based technology firms, venture capitalists and meet with University of Waterloo graduates working in the Valley.
“As cities and as citizens, we have much in common and many shared goals,” said Mayor Tory. “And nowhere is this more pronounced than in our desire to develop the Toronto-Waterloo Region corridor into a global hub of innovation, growth and prosperity.”
“Last month, I joined Mayor Tory in Toronto as he launched his city’s startup strategy, and where we formally announced our partnership to promote the corridor as a world-leading hub of innovation,” said Mayor Berry Vrbanovic. “Mayor Tory’s
visit to Waterloo region today, and our joint delegation to San Francisco in April are evidence of our cities’ commitment to work together to build a stronger, more competitive economy.”
Thirteen California firms are in our region employing 1,900 workers.
