The best in local business was honoured Thursday evening at a gala event at Bingeman’s in Kitchener.

The Greater Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce handed out the 2016 Business Excellence awards in front of a crowd of 900.

Business of the Year Over 50 Employees went to Home Hardware Stores.

S.G. Cunningham Limited was named Business of the Year in the 11-50 Employee category and ‘Award Gem Spa’ was named Business of the Year in the 1-10 Employee category.

Among other winners were; Laura Hewitson of Maulife Financial who picked up volunteer of the year, the Innovation Award went to the Perimeter Institute, Mary D’Alton was awarded the Michael R. Follett Community Leader Award.
