Waterloo Region’s airport sets new passenger record in 2015

Another successful year for the Region of Waterloo International Airport.

2015 was the busiest year on record for the local airport with a 5.8% increase in passenger traffic. In total, 153,963 passengers travelled through the airport’s Terminal Building.

“The numbers clearly show that air service is important to our community,” said Regional Chair Ken Seiling. “It is very exciting to see the increase in passenger traffic at the airport and we are working hard to add even more destinations to our schedule. We want to thank passengers for their continued support, our airline partners for connecting our community to the world and the many private and corporate aircraft that use our Airport.”

There were also 102,173 aircraft movements, (meaning take-offs and landings) a 6.2 per cent increase over the previous year.
