A local app startup is celebrating today.
Kitchener-Waterloo’s ‘Pout’ has been acquired by San-Francisco-based Everalbum.
The fashion app’s co-founders, Laura Smith and Riley Donelson, will join the mobile photo company’s Waterloo office.
“We’re proud that this acquisition continues our relationship with the Waterloo tech community,” said Everalbum co-founder Andrew Dudum in a release.
“We’re excited to continue the movement started by our tech peers, like Google, Kik, and Shopify, in establishing a Canadian ecosystem which we are proud to be a part of.”
“It’s important for us to stay here because we really believe in the Waterloo Region as a world-class hub for technology companies,” Donelson tells 570 News.
“Pout’s success is owed to the support of local incubators, Velocity, Communitech, and the Accelerator Centre […] so we’re excited stick to around and give back to the local tech community any way we can.”
Smith and Donelson won’t have to move too far — having worked out of the Velocity Garage, they’ll be joining Everalbum’s office in the Tannery.
Pout was founded by the two Waterloo natives in 2014.
