Expanding public Wi-Fi, one idea discussed at Kitchener’s digital forum

Kitchener is taking its reputation as a progressive, tech savvy city to the next level that will include big thinking from the technology hub and community leaders.

City council is committed to expand public Wi-Fi and greater deployment of fibre throughout the city. To make the city
a better place to live, it will need to identify tangible initiatives that will use information, technology and other digital resources that will also make the community more competitive that will draw the best talent in the world to Waterloo Region.

Kitchener Mayor Berry Vrbanovic says “staff has been hard at work at this since last year, looking at the work of other cities and engaging stake holders. We remain on track to present the findings on this work to council later this year.”

The ideas presented from community leaders will help the city decide what to do next in its digital landscape plan.
