Despite its recent struggles, Waterloo-based BlackBerry is still Canada’s top tech company.
That according to the annual Branham300 list. Even though its experienced a 40-per cent drop in revenue, BlackBerry has been in the top spot for five years.
The rankings are based on numbers from fiscal 2013.
The president of Branham Group Inc., the company that puts the list together, tells the Globe & Mail, despite
the smartphone maker’s troubles, Canada’s high-tech sector is highly resilient and thriving over all.
Montreal-based IT services company CGI Group Inc. jumped into second place with an over 100-per cent increase in revenue.
BCE, Telus and Rogers Communications, the parent company of 570 News, round out the top five.
Other local companies who made the top 50: OpenText is 10th, Teledyne DALSA is in at 32, Cambridge-based
COM DEV International 35th, Descartes Systems Group 43rd and Sandvine climbed seven spots to 49th.
