Cambridge council to introduce new voting options

Something new for residents in the city of Cambridge when it comes to casting their ballots.

By a margin of 5-4, Cambridge City Council has voted on a hybrid voting system that will allow people to vote in person, by phone or online for the October 27th municipal election.

Councillor Rick Cowsill is fine with telephone voting, but wanted the Internet option removed as he cites safety concerns.
He also feels online voting ‘destroys the integrity of the voting system.’

He’s also skeptical that an online option would encourage the younger generation to participate.

Kitchener and Waterloo have decided not to support online or telephone voting options.
