Curling takes over Aud until Sunday

Canada’s best curlers will be rocking the Kitchener Aud as Capital One’s Road to the Roar starts this morning.

Over the next six days, 24 teams will be looking to be at the top, as two men’s and two women’s teams will be competing against 14 squads from across Canada in Winnipeg in early December at the Road to the Rings. That competition will then determine the teams representing Canada at the 2014 Olympics in February.

Kelly Scott, the former World Curling Champion and Amber Holland the 2012 Canadian Curling Champion were guests on 570’s Gary Doyle Show this week to chat about Road to the Roar. Scott says that this being an Olympic year, you have to lay it all out on the ice now.

“It’s time to put it all together, right here and right now. It will be really interesting which team can really make it quick right now.” said Scott.

Holland adds that the Road to the Roar is very important to curlers who have been planning their road to the Olympics.

“It’s one of the plans you put in place, three years previous, you put a team together. The Olympics is always one of those goals …so it is a pretty important step for us.”
