Maclean’s 2014 university rankings are out

Maclean’s Magazine is out with its annual university rankings.

Locally, our three schools were ranked in the Comprehensive category.

The University of Waterloo held onto third place, the University of Guelph remains 5th and Wilfrid Laurier was 10th, up from 11th in the previous rankings.  The top school was the University of Victoria.

Further broken down, the University of Waterloo was number one in the Comprehensive category in terms of student awards.  Guelph was 7th and Laurier was 14th.

When it comes to student/faculty ratio, Waterloo was 10th, Laurier was 13th and Guelph was 14th.

Waterloo scored high when it came to faculty awards and social sciences grants, as it was number one in both those areas.  U-W was number two in medical/science grants.

The number one ranked school in the Medical Doctoral category was McGill, while Mount Allison University was tops in the Primarily Undergraduate category.
