Calgary Stampede selling ‘Hell or High Water’ T-shirts to raise money for Alberta flood relief

CALGARY, Alta. – It’s become the motto of Calgarians as they deal with extensive flooding that hit much of southern Alberta.

The president of the Calgary Stampede said the event will go ahead next week “come hell or high water.”

Bob Thompson said crews have been pumping millions of litres of water from the rodeo grounds, which were swamped last week.

“Throughout our entire history, we have never cancelled a show, despite two wars and a Great Depression — 2013 will be no exception,” he said at a news conference Monday.

“We will be hosting the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth, come hell or high water.”

Now the world-famous Stampede is selling T-shirts with “Hell or High Water” on them to raise money for flood relief.

The T-shirts are on sale for $19.95 with all proceeds being donated to the Red Cross.

The 101-year-old world-famous Stampede features a rodeo, chuckwagon races and a large midway.

The T-shirts can be purchased here.
