Woman’s torso found in garbage bin in Kitchener

A disturbing discovery at an apartment complex in Kitchener.

Waterloo Regional Police confirmed Sunday afternoon that the torso of a white adult woman was found inside a garbage bin at 250 Frederick Street (near Gordon Street).

The discovery was made by some people passing by the area just after 11am on Saturday.

There are still a lot of unanswered questions for investigators. The victim has yet to be identified and no other body parts have been recovered.

The torso was clothed in a black, short sleeved t-shirt with the words “Forget Princess I want to be a Vampire” on the front.

Police are appealing to anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area or locates any suspicious articles, on or near their property.

“There are people out there that will know what happened here and why it happened here.” WRPS Inspector, Kevin Thaler told a news conference on Sunday afternoon.

You are asked to call the Homicide Branch at 519 650 8500 ext 8666 or Crimestoppers at 1 800 222 TIPS if you have any information.

Thaler also said investigators are looking over missing person reports, which is standard in this type of investigation.

An autopsy is scheduled to be done in Hamilton today.

This is Waterloo Region’s first homicide of 2013.
