Student launches petition against Bill 115

A grade 8 student at Kitchener’s Laurentian Public School has launched a petition against Bill 115.

Samantha Hollander says the petition presses all sides to resolve their dispute in a way that does not affect students.

She is frustrated extracurricular activities have been suspended.

She is a member of the band and had hoped to perform in front of the school before Christmas, but that has since been cancelled.

She tells 570’s Jeff Allan Show, she has collected up to 75 names so far and hopes to end up with between 100 and 150.

She says a copy will be sent to local MPP’s, the government and the union.

As for how she will spend today’s off day, she figures she will stay at home.

She says it is not fair to go to her school and start “dumping on” her teachers, saying this is a dispute between the government and the union.
