Canadian breakout pop singer Carly Rae Jepsen to guest star on ‘90210’

TORONTO – There’s no “maybe” about it — teen drama “90210” is ringing up Canadian breakout pop star Carly Rae Jepsen.

The Mission, B.C., singer behind the chart-topping hit “Call Me Maybe” will appear in the season premiere of the sudsy teen drama this fall.

According to a release from the CW, Jepsen will play herself as the headliner for Adrianna’s (played by Vancouver native Jessica Lowndes) Las Vegas premiere, which is disrupted when she receives upsetting news about Dixon (Tristan Wilds).

Jepsen will perform a song from her much-anticipated new album in the episode, which is set to air Oct. 8 on the U.S. network.

The 26-year-old has a smattering of dates scheduled over the summer — including shows in Toronto, Calgary, Lloydminster, Alta., St. Jean, Que., Grand Falls-Windsor, N.L. and Halifax — before she joins fellow Canuck Justin Bieber on his extensive arena tour this fall.

The rebooted “90210,” meanwhile, is heading into its fifth season and, in addition to Lowndes, features Toronto actress Shenae Grimes.

“We fell in love with her song when we first heard it, and used it in last season’s finale before it was a national sensation,” read a statement attributed to “90210” executive producers Patti Carr and Lara Olsen.

“We think she’s an exciting artist and are thrilled to be able to have her music on the show again, this time in a live performance in our season premiere.”
