Alkanater brand Tahina recalled due to potential salmonella risk

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning the public not to consume the Alkanater brand tahina because the product may be contaminated with salmonella.

The affected product is sold in 454-gram containers bearing UPC 6 92551 00002 0 and code “Exp.: 5/7/2013” (May 7, 2013).

The importer, Phoenicia Group, from Quebec, is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace.

It’s a product that’s been distributed around the country, but no one’s reported becoming sick from eating it.
