SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. – Police in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., are continuing their search for a three-year-old girl, although an Amber Alert issued early today has expired.
The alert was issued after police in the northern Ontario city said Leila Elizabeth May was abducted after being dropped off for a scheduled visit with her mother.
Police say they aren’t sure if the girl has been taken out of the area, and the alert could be reinstated if their investigation determines that has happened.
The girl is described as being just over three feet tall and weighing 40 pounds, with blue eyes and long blond hair.
Police say she was last seen wearing a green sweatshirt, pink rain jacket, pink rain boots with rabbit faces and Spiderman underwear and socks.
Police believe the little girl is in the company of her mother, 21-year-old Kristy Ann Barsanti, who’s described as being five-foot-two, 115 pounds, with above-shoulder dark brown hair with a red streak.
Anyone with information is urged to call the Sault Saint Marie Police Service immediately at 705-949-6300.
