Arrest in People’s Jewellers heists

A 19 year old man from York Region is facing charges in a pair of jewellery store heists in Kitchener and Guelph. The suspect was taken into custody today in Richmond Hill.

People’s Jewellers in Fairview Park Mall was held up on December 1st and the Stone Road Mall location was hit on January 28th.

Waterloo Regional Police Spokesperson, Olaf Heinzel, says there were three suspects in the Kitchener robbery and two in the one in Guelph. He says, “Our detectives are working with Guelph Police to identify and locate additional suspects in both robberies.”

Today’s arrest is not connected to three others that happened at the end of January. Those three suspects are charged in the robberies at Raffi and Ben Moss Jewellers as well as a pair of robberies at a Cash Max store.
