Canada’s Montgomery wins gold

Canada’s Jon Montgomery slid to a gold medal on Friday at the Whistler Sliding Centre, edging Latvia’s Martins Dukurs by 0.07s. 

Meantime, Canada’s Mellisa Hollingsworth will be leaving the Vancouver Olympics empty-handed. The 29-year-old from Eckville, Alta., entered the skeleton competition as the top-ranked slider but struggled to a disappointing fifth-place finish Friday.
