Icy roads kept regional police busy

Regional police were kept busy Tuesday afternoon as snow covered roads made for a tricky drive for motorists.
The 570 News Traffic Centre received numerous reports of crashes, black ice and blowing snow. Regional police say they responded to more than 50 crashes between 5:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
At one point vehicles on Columbia between Davenport and Fischer Hallman were travelling around 10 kilometres an hour because of the slick conditions.
Regional Police Superintendent Bryan Larkin tells 570 News drivers need to change their driving habits in bad weather.
He says motorists should be slowing down, and increasing their stopping distance. He also says vehicles should be cleared of snow before hitting the road and washer fluids checked.
