Regional council looks to ban mobile signs

Regional council is looking at a proposal to ban mobile signs from the commuter roads in the region.

They are considering the ban as a way to end sign clutter, driver distraction and to align regional roads with city and township roads that already ban mobile signs from road allowances.

Some merchants are upset by the move, telling today’s Record it will destroy jobs.

Signs advertising from private properties near roads would not be affected by the ban.

Councillors though are split over the issue and are expected to debate it again in January.
