From nanotech insulin injection to scanning brain cells in senior citizens, the two local universities will benefit from some extra funding from Queen’s Park.
MPP Leeanna Pendergast today announced $21-million for over 300 researchers and their work at both University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University.
One of the UW projects involves using a nanofibre assembler — a machine that includes a microscope that can see a single atom — to further develop an insulin injector that can fit inside the human skin.
Other projects cover such fields as groundwater monitoring, and imaging brain cells to better understand memory loss in seniors.
