10:15am- Linda Freeman, Author of “The Ambiguous Champion – Canada and South Africa in the Trudeau and Mulroney Years” and Professor with the Department of Political Science, Institute of African Studies at Carleton University, Re: Tributes are pouring in for Nelson Mandela, who passed away yesterday at the age of 95. Flags have been lowered to half-mast and people across South Africa are commemorating Mandela with song, tears and prayers. Mandela will have state burial on December 15th.
10:30am- Michael Chong, Conservative MP for Wellington-Halton Hills, Re: It’s been a busy week for Chong. The MP introduced his private members’ bill “The Reform Act” on Tuesday in the House of Commons.
11:00am- Gilles Bisson, NDP House Leader and MPP for Timmins-James Bay, Re: New Democrats are disappointed that Wynne’s Liberals and Hudak’s PCs teamed up to kill an NDP motion that would have helped get hydro rates under control by pressing the pause button on new private power megadeals and asking Ontario’s Auditor General to do a value for money audit of private power deals.
11:30am- Reyne Rice, toy industry expert and contributor with ParentsCanada Magazine, Re: The toy expert joins Gary in studio helping parents learn what will be the top kids’ toys this holiday season, and why. Reyne is one of the most reputable and knowledgeable children’s play experts in Canada.
12:00pm- Christina Blizzard, Toronto Sun Queen’s Park Columnist, Re: Whatever happened to ministerial responsibility? That notion seems to have all but been abandoned in Premier Wynne’s government. Say what you like about Mike Harris, he held his ministers to a high standard. When they screwed up, they were gone, he didn’t just make them take responsibility for their mistakes, he forced them to carry the can for those under them who screwed up.
12:30pm- Richard Dumais, Equal Rights for Divorced Parents Advocate, Re: Dumais says that men are afraid to join in protests for equal parenting rights even though they complain that the courts don’t treat them fairly. He’ll be standing in front of the Kitchener court bringing awareness to the issue today holding an “Equal Rights 4 Dads” sign.
1:15pm- Michael Clifton, Strummerfest co-organizer, Re: The 2nd annual Strummerfest Music Festival happens next Friday. Not only does it celebrate the region’s vibrant live indie music scene it helps to raise money in support of both national and local suicide-prevention charities.
