War buddies reunite on the Jeff Allan Show!
Bill Innes and Bob Hanna reunited for the first time since 1943. Both Hanna and Innes were shipmates during WWII and sailed on convoys in the North Atlantic.
Hanna recognized Innes after a Record story revealed how Innis had returned a wallet to a German soldier he rescued when their destroyer, the St. Laurent, helped sink a German U-boat in 1944 . Innes, of London, has a photographic memory, so vibrant he could remember the colour of the paint on the destroyer. Bob from Cambridge put the war behind him but was overjoyed to see Innes.. Bob has kept a photograph of the St. Laurent crew.

RED FRIDAY'S
Listeners to the Jeff Allan Show on 570 News know Jeff is a strong supporter of veterans. Salutes to those that have given their lives for freedom and those that continue to fight for freedom are regular topics on the show. As we approach Remembrance Day, Jeff is encouraging all listeners to support "Red Fridays".
What is "Red Fridays"?
It's a grassroots effort by the wives of two men serving in the Canadian Forces. The concept of wearing something red - whether a red shirt, jacket, cap, bandana, ribbon or whatever - every Friday is meant to let the soldiers and their spouses and children know they are not alone. It's a way to show appreciation for the sacrifices they are making on our behalf. A way to thank them for their service to our country and their fight for peace and justice
