One Warm Coat

Winter is still officially a few weeks away, but there’s certainly a chill in the air already and many have now pulled out their winter coats.

Some local residents however can’t afford winter coats and that’s where the Salvation Army comes in.

It launches its “One Warm Coat” program today, partnering with 570 News and our sister stations CHYM FM and KIX 106.

The agency’s Major Rick Sheasby expects a busy next few weeks, telling 570 News the first day they opened their warm coat site on Gage Avenue this week they had 500 people pass through their doors.

He adds it’s not just coats that are needed, but also mitts, hats and boots.

Drop off locations in the region for new or decent winter clothing include all Economy Lube stores, or you can call the Salvation Army on Gage Avenue.
