Warm and fuzzy bridge

570 News Sep 08, 2010 16:48:46 PM
The Main Street bridge in downtown Galt is now covered in knit blankets, scarves, and even Barbie doll dresses.

Over one thousand people of all ages have contributed to the art project called "Knit Cambridge".

Some of the pieces have come from California, New Zealand, Newfoundland, Wiarton, and Preston Public School in Cambridge.

Sue Sturdy, the artist behind the project, says it pays tribute to the city's rich textile past and brings people together.

None of the works of art will go to waste, the knit items will be repackaged into blankets and scarves and go to charity or will be auctioned off.

The bridge will be closed for the official opening on Saturday afternoon.
