West Nile in Guelph

570 News Sep 02, 2010 16:18:31 PM
The West Nile virus has been confirmed in Guelph.

The virus was found in a dead blue jay.

Health officials say the positive result means some mosquitoes in the area carry the virus.

Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health reminds residents to protect themselves from mosquito
bites:

- Wear light coloured long-sleeved tops and pants - particularly at dusk and dawn when mosquitoes are most active.

- Use insect repellant that contains DEET on your exposed skin when outdoors.
