Blood donations needed

570 News Jul 31, 2010 05:54:35 AM
One of the drawbacks of summer is the need for blood donations traditionally increases, and this year is no different.

In fact, locally, supplies in Kitchener-Waterloo are very low.
Canadian Blood Services says some 1,900 more donors are needed to meet demand for the rest of the summer.

That's why it's urging residents to roll up their sleeves and give the gift of life.
The chief reason donations drop off at this time year is many of the regular donors are away on holidays or otherwise pre-occupied.

In K-W there are 6,000 regular donors.

Veronica Magee from Canadian Blood Services tells 570 News just one donation can save three lives.
