Flood warning issued by GRCA

570 News Mar 15, 2010 03:44:44 AM

It was likely a restless night for many residents of Ayr, wondering if they'd wake up to flooded basements.
The Nith River through Ayr is under a Flood Warning, issued by the Grand River Conservation Authority.
It expected the waterway to peak overnight and warned some residents could find their basements flooded, with those most at risk living on Tanner and Piper Streets.
The GRCA says water flows reached warning levels due to this weekend's heavy rainfall and snow melt.  It's also warning residents to stay clear of slick river banks and not to park their vehicles in areas prone to flooding.
