Funding for CMH

570 News Mar 12, 2010 13:56:35 PM
Another step forward for Cambridge Memorial Hospital. After tabling its revised improvement plan last fall, the hospital is now getting a funding boost. The $1.37-million from the Waterloo Wellington Local Health Integration Network will allow CMH to expand its in-patient rehabilitation program.

CEO Sandra Hanmer says the WWLHIN-wide review of rehabilitation services supports long-term planning for a sustainable and integrated rehabilitation program for local residents. She tells 570 News rehabilitation services help people regain function, mobility and independence after illness or an injury. Hanmer says the funding follows through on an initiative identified in last fall's revised improvement plan, specifically a desire to enhance in-house rehabilitation programs. The funding will help Cambridge Memorial create a combined 31-bed unit and move to a new location on the third floor. Hanmer says this initiative also follows through on a commitment to Cambridge residents to provide them with an improved hospital.

Murray Martin, the Supervisor appointed by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care last September to oversee operations at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, applauds the funding announcement at a time when CMH is positioning itself for opportunities that go beyond the Cambridge boundaries.
