There's a war of words brewing between the President of Conestoga College and the Mayor of Cambridge.
President of Conestoga College John Tibbits says they should be getting some form of financial help from the city of Cambridge, while the mayor says, they never promised the college any funding.
But speaking on today's Jeff Allan show, Tibbits points to a letter mayor Doug Craig sent to Premier Dalton McGuinty and MP Gary Goodyear. In a portion of that letter, Tibbits says Craig stated he would provide financial support for this project, including some portions of the land, "It's not that we feel we're owed something, this was a statement, a letter written from the mayor saying he would give support."
In the letter from Mayor Craig, it also states that the city is prepared to look at a possible commitment to this project. And that the city and pl of Cambridge do not have the resources to fund this valuable project.
Craig notes, they've not only helped out with the cost of the land, they've provided $400,000 in staff costs.
