After an exhaustive global search, the Board of Director's of Kitchener's Centre In The Square have appointed Sandra Bender to the position of CEO.

Bender, who specializes in audience development, starts on May 1st.  The Listowel native and Laurier graduate has 17 years experience in the arts field, the last four in Australia, where she worked for the Australia Council for the Arts and for a pair of pay television channels.

Bender tells 570 News she will have a far-reaching mandate to expand audience and build the brand.

Speaking of her new role, she says "it very much is about building new audiences, it's very much about repositioning the Centre in terms of being a creative, cultural hub for the community, and it's very much about extending it beyond just the building or just the identity of the bricks and mortars", she adds.

She replaces Jamie Grant, who left last September, and who had held the position of General Manager.
