He fought. Early this morning he lost that fight.

Jack Layton. Dead at the age of 61. What a year he had. An election victory for the NDP had people really taking notice of him, and his party.

Some 4.5 million voters cast ballots for the New Democrats in May, giving Layton 103 seats, making him the first NDP leader to become the Official Opposition.

It wasn’t the voters that brought him down, but an evil thing called cancer.
