This afternoon I was watching video footage of the tsunami wiping out a village. The pictures were capture by someone who had obviously fled their home for higher ground and it sounded like this person was surrounded by their neighbours because of the sobbing and crying in the background. The water seemed to ooze into the valley slowly like maple sap running from the tree and as it progressed, cars, houses and anything in between went with it. It was weird to watch because it looked like the video was running in slow motion but it wasn’t. The valley was wide, the subdivision had lots of homes and the camera was way up high on a hill so the optics made it look like everything was slowed down. I stared at the picture on TV for two minutes and it seemed like an hour! All I could think of was how much awesome power nature can unleash. Hours later I’m still stunned by the footage.
