Canada vs. Russia was amazing!  But, I got curious.  I flipped around to the Belleville vs. Mississauga game and the Oshawa vs. Kingston game,  just to see what the crowds were like.  In a word, missing!  Given the gravity of the Olympic game I wasn’t surprised that two struggling teams would have a hard time getting fans to believe, but the salute goes to Todd Smith.  Todd has been around Belleville a long time and does the play-by-play of home games on cable.   I caught his comment about the crowd and chuckled.  Here’s the paraphrase…  I guess we shouldn’t be surprised at the sparse crowd tonight in Belleville.  Afterall, the hockey world is focused on a much bigger contest…..  Owen Sound is at Erie!   Well played.
