Waterloo firefighters among those supporting Tim Hortons’ Camp Day

It’s the perfect day to go out, get a coffee, and support a good cause.

Brett Gibson is President of the Waterloo Professional Fire Fighters Association – and says they’ll be helping out locally, as June 6th is Tim Hortons’ Camp Day.

“We’ll have off-duty firefighters coming in and volunteering at three locations in Waterloo – they’ll be helping out and serving people coffee throughout the day. It’s a great event, it’s Tim Horton’s Camp Day – it’s one of their biggest charity events, and they donate 100 per cent of the proceeds. So we’re really happy to help out with this community event.”

Gibson says giving back to our community is a cause that hits close to home for most local firefighters.

“Throughout the year, we support 20 to 25 different charities. This is just another one that we’re pleased to help out with – as the funds raised go towards kids so they can have a great camp experience! It’s an excellent event – and we’re encouraging everyone to go to Tim Hortons, grab a coffee, help send a kid to camp, and of course – enjoy the day!”

Off-duty firefighters will be volunteering at the following Waterloo locations throughout the day:

– 384 King St. N

– 425 University Ave. E

– 55 Northfield Dr. E

Officials with Cambridge Fire, Kitchener Fire, ROW Paramedics, and Waterloo Regional Police Service are also set up at Tim Hortons across the Region for Camp Day.

The Tim Hortons’ Children’s Foundation holds Camp Day every year on the first Wednesday in June, and restaurant owners donate 100 per cent of their coffee proceeds to the Foundation.
