Region’s water restrictions now in effect

These hot and humid days are a reminder that water is extremely important, and the Region wants to make sure we have enough through the summer.

The annual water restrictions are in effect from now until September 30th.

Starting today, homeowners can only water their lawns once a week with each home having a particular day of the week designated for watering.

Your watering day is based on your address.

If you address ends in:

0 or 1 – Water on Monday

2 or 3 – Water on Tuesday

4 or 5 – Water on Wednesday

6 or 7 – Water on Thursday

8 or 9 – Water on Friday

Manager of Water Efficiency with the Region, Steve Gombos says residents can still water their gardens, plants, trees and shrubs every other day in the morning and evenings.

“We save millions of water per year during the summer time when people follow the water conservation bylaw, so it’s doing its job and we are very grateful to the public for that.”

Anyone not following the bylaw will get a warning first, but any further infractions could lead to a $150 charge.

More information can be found on the Region’s website.
