Six ION vehicles in Waterloo Region so far

The region is keeping Bombardier’s feet to the fire to get ION LRT service up and running locally by December.

A monthly report was issued to Regional Council Tuesday, going over the work done between April 18th and May 18th.

Regional Councillor Sean Strickland tells 570 NEWS six vehicles have made it to Waterloo Region so far.

“They’re in various stages of completing the testing of the car and in various stages of completing the fit on equipment to make the car completely operational.”

The report adds none of the Grandlinq on-board equipment has been installed yet.

Strickland says Bombardier has a contract to deliver the vehicles, but the region is working with them to get them ready for service.

He adds the report ensures the whole process is as transparent as possible, going on to say it’s too early to tell if there will be further delays.
