A local candidate running for the NDP has made the front page of the Toronto Sun for a second morning in a row.
Fitz ‘The Whip’ Vanderpool is running in the new riding of Kitchener South-Hespeler.
The Sun has photos of Vanderpool making an appearance at a Female Oil Wrestling Federation event in Kitchener, dating back to 2013.
He is surrounded in the picture by bikini-clad women.
On Thursday, his representative issued a statement to 570 NEWS, not addressing the oil wrestling photos, but another issue — same-sex marriage.
A statement from Vanderpool reading, “I want to be very clear now — I completely support marriage equality for everyone, including same-sex couples.”
He says he “regrets” that he was unclear about his position back in 2006.
570 NEWS reached out to Vanderpool and the Ontario NDP for comment, but hasn’t heard back.
