Local NDP candidate, and champion boxer, Fitz the Whip Vanderpool has issued a response to allegations and insinuations made against him on Thursday.
The Ontario Liberals accuse Fitzroy Vanderpool of accepting the endorsement of right-wing organizations for his opposition to same sex marriage.
In a three-sentence statement, Vanderpool says, “I regret that I was unclear in 2006 about my position on equal marriage rights. I apologize unreservedly. I want to be very clear now – I completely support marriage equality for everyone, including same-sex couples.”
The statement makes no mention though of Thursday’s front-page Toronto Sun article, alleging Vanderpool took part in a women’s oil wrestling events in 2013.
Vanderpool is running for the NDP in the new riding of Kitchener South-Hespeler.
