OPP say a laser was pointed at a helicopter in Oxford County

A scary and dangerous situation in Oxford County late Thursday involving an OPP helicopter.
Shortly before midnight, the OPP aircraft was searching for a wanted person when a laser was pointed at the crew.
Although the person responsible for the crime has not been identified, OPP Sergeant Kevin Martin says this crime warrants a stiff penalty.
“This is a very serious offense.The maximum fine is $100,000 and there’s a possibility of a jail sentence which could be up to five years.”
Martin says in 2016 alone, there were 500 similar incidents reported across the country.
He reiterates the danger for everyone when this happens: “We can’t underscore enough how important it is to not engage in this kind of activity.”
