Streetscaping in uptown Waterloo should be complete in 6 to 8 weeks

Work is expected to kick into high gear today to complete the streetscaping project in uptown Waterloo.

Much of the work is already done, but now that winter has passed, the city hopes to have everything done in the next 6 to 8 weeks.

Among the items still be ticked off the checklist is the completion of the new bike lanes, decorative paving stones and planter pots, new street trees, benches and garbage containers.

The city says some of the work will be done during overnight hours and some will be done on weekends.

It stresses, work will stop at 5 every afternoon to lessen the blow on uptown businesses.

It says, while there will be times pedestrian detours will be needed, at all times, they will have access to businesses.
