Ever walk a mile in a horse’s shoes? KWHS Officer praised for Waterloo rescue

A horse is said to be in good, ‘stable’ condition after it was discovered roaming near a busy Waterloo expressway.

The Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society was contacted Thursday morning as the animal was seen wandering in the Northfield and Highway 85 area.

KWHS Officer Emily Tondreau arrived at the scene, and is getting some serious praise for what she did next!

Since a horse trailer wasn’t available on a whim, Tondreau took matters into her own hands – and feet – by walking the animal to a safe location.

The trek took over an hour, and the horse is now stabled at the Ontario Livestock Exchange while the Humane Society tries to track down the owner.
