Rangers look to take first lead in Western Conference Final

The Kitchener Rangers will be looking to change a trend on Friday night in the Soo.

So far, the home team has won all the games in the OHL’s Western Conference Final.

It means the best of seven is tied 2-2 heading into Game 5. Mike Farwell and Chris Pope start the pre-game show on 570 NEWS at 6:35 p.m.

Kitchener picked up a huge 7-4 victory at The Aud in Game 4 on Wednesday. The Blueshirts were led offensively by Givani Smith and Joseph Garreffa, Smith scored twice and Garreffa collected four assists.

Smith says he was able to play his game: “…I’m here for a reason, play my role and that’s what I am going to do to help the team win.”

The Rangers also blanked the Greyhounds 3-0 in Game 3 on Monday.

Game 6 will be decided in Kitchener on Sunday afternoon.

The winner will move on to face Hamilton in the OHL Final. The Bulldogs won the East in five games with a 2-1 win over Kingston on Thursday.
